A trip down the pontoons can be deadly dangerous...

Beware! Look out! Don’t do it!

This sign at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth was photographed by Andy Dare who sent it to me as an example of the new breed of super-sign incorporating, he says’ all the rules and things you cannot do.’

Plus some bossy advice about things you should do, like keep your child safe. Ha, that caught out you out. Wouldn’t have thought of that, would you?

Couldn’t they have crammed on a few more? How about: sea is cold, beware hypothermia; wear sunscreen, radiation and cancer risk; beware strong currents; warning: incoming tide. They can take their pick. I see that one UK company boasts ‘Over 25,000 Health and Safety signs in stock.’
