The very modern art of yacht modelmaking

How good to think that the old art of ship modelmaking hasn’t died out. On the contrary, it has kept pace with modern forms and materials.

I really liked the detail in the cockpit of this Open 60 scale model by French modelmaker Guy Viau. It’s of the boat Seb Josse will be racing in the next Vendée Globe as part of BT Team Ellen.

I’m not sure the boom is quite right, but it very clearly shows the central winch arrangement, with lines going through a tunnel in the cabin, and circular traveller track, which helps control leach tension without a vang.
