Ellen MacArthur has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List with an MBE.

The 24-year-old, who came second to much acclaim in the Vendee Globe this year and holds the dual records of being the youngest person and fastest woman to sail the globe, was quoted on the BBC as being “delighted”.
