Official event charity Toe in the Water invited Yachting World to join them in Sunday's race

AAM Cowes Week official event charity Toe in the Water invited Yachting World to join them for a race across the Solent on Sunday.

The charity works to inspire injured servicemen and women to move beyond their disability by focusing on competitive sailing. They have two boats at AAM Cowes Week: a donated Farr 52 called Toe in the Water and the British Army’s A40RC, racing as Toe in the Water Too.

Yachting World joined skipper Dee Caffari MBE and a crew of injured servicemen and women and volunteers on board Toe in the Water.

A lack of wind postponed the start of the IRC Class 0 race but we didn’t have to wait long for the forecasted breeze to blow in. After over three hours of impressive racing, the boat sailed into third place.
